My Grunge Effect-

Roll your mouse over the image to see the before and after.

Step 1-
  Open your image and duplicate its layer.

Step 2-
  Convert the top layer to black and white. I used the channel mixer with these settings =Red 0, Green 100, Blue 0, Monochrome.

Step 3-
  Change the blend mode of the top layer to "Overlay".

Step 4-
  Reduce the opacity of the top layer to your liking.

Step 5-
  Reduce the saturation of the bottom layer, again to your liking.

Step 6-
  My border (I know, it's so fancy)!
